Tien is an NIH-sponsored postdoctoral scholar in the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at San Diego State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Education from the School of Education at University of California, Irvine. She has years of experience in working with Southeast Asians and Latinx populations as a reading and writing specialist. Her research focuses on the language and literacy development of children from linguistically diverse backgrounds.
